Weed Seed viability testing

Testing to determine how effective crop-topping or spray-topping has been is available. This information is important to determine the potential seedbank size for the following season.

For each species, dormancy is broken and a set number of seeds are tested. The germination percentage of healthy seeds is measured and reported.

How much seed?

We can test even small volumes of seed but an A4 envelope full of seed heads or pods is sufficient for ryegrass, brome, wild oats and wild radish. For smaller seeded weeds, less is required.
